Inheritance

Could I sit with you, for a moment?

I want to tell it all to you.

Tell you of hopelessness.

Tell you of a fog

That swallowed all it touched,

Until there was no more.

Could I bother you, just for a while?

I have to tell somebody.

I have to tell somebody about the Sun

That broke through, and shattered the

Fear that held us so tightly.

Could I tell you of a madman who believed himself to be a god?

He who was hardly a man.

And yet, so much like a man he was.

I need someone to hold my hand

As I skate across the frozen wastes of a fallen kingdom

And survey all that we’ve inherited.
